How do I apply to become a Priest?

Questions

Having discussed this, as mentioned on our page First Steps, when you have made a decision to apply to enter seminary, then the following process takes place:

  • You write a letter to your bishop applying to your diocese
  • Then you will be requested to supply your CV, exam results, references from your parish priest, vocations directors, school principals, and places of work.
  • Then you are interviewed by a diocesan panel who make a recommendation to the bishop.
  • The bishop has final say on admission to seminary for preparation to the priesthood.

The director of vocations is V. Rev. Jim Finn P.P., Crossabeg, Co. Wexford.

You can phone him at 0872119151, or contact him by email -

Every diocese in Ireland has a director of vocations. If you want to find out who is responsible in any particular diocese, you can refer to the information on the Website of the Conference of Diocesan Vocations Directors.
